The Don CeSar
St. Pete Beach, FL
Built in 1928, The Don CeSar – a AAA Four Diamond property, National Historic Landmark, and member of the Historic Hotels of America – has graciously welcomed the world's elite, stars of the silver screen, renowned authors, U.S presidents, and high-profile dignitaries over the years.
The final stage of a three-phase full property renovation included the re-design of the iconic beachfront resort’s 277 guestrooms, including 36 luxury suites. The updated guestrooms incorporated a beach-inspired aesthetic such as wicker furnishings, white-washed headboards and drapery, and wallpaper with flamingo prints in gray and blush tones, reflective of the iconic hotel’s signature pink façade. In addition to a complete design transformation, guest rooms feature upgraded layouts to allow for two queen beds instead of doubles, while bathroom space in many of the rooms were maximized by transitioning from tubs to showers.
The renovation also introduced Beacon Pool Bar & Lookout, a new pool bar with a rooftop deck, and a new full-service indoor-outdoor restaurant, Society Table.
Did you know in 1942 the U.S. Army purchased the hotel to be used as a sub-base hospital, then a convalescent center for airmen returning from their WWII tour? At the end of WWII, the site was recommissioned, serving as a VA Headquarters vacated by the U.S. government in 1969.
