PWI Construction sponsors Hospitality Cares’ Pie in the Face Challenge

PWI Construction is pleased to sponsor Hospitality Cares’ inaugural Pie in the Face Challenge. Hospitality Cares, a not-for-profit organization that benefits professionals in the hospitality industry who are experiencing financial fall-out as a result of the global pandemic, debuted the Pie in the Face Challenge in January.

“Construction is built on partnerships. Our subcontractors are the lifeblood of our work and an invaluable partnership. We’re proud to support the work of the ASA of Arizona and the phenomenal job they do to support us all in the construction industry,” explains Director of Client Experience Aaron Jewell.

The Pie in the Face Challenge is designed to promote awareness and spur donations for unemployed or furloughed professionals. The social media challenge invites hotel industry executives to post a video of themselves receiving a pie or whipped cream plate tossed at their face. Participants are then encouraged to invite their colleagues to participate and share the video content on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram with the hashtags #pieinfacehospitalitycares and #tossapiemakeadonation.

“The executive board of Hospitality Cares asked me to create a virtual fundraising events committee as we knew the number of unemployed hospitality design professionals was increasing quickly and we wanted to be able to help as many people as possible. I thought the pie competition would be a way to not only raise awareness about Hospitality Cares but to bring some lighthearted fun into our community. The more pies we toss, the more people learn about us, the more funds we can raise, and the more hospitality design professionals we can help. My fellow volunteers on the committee, Cori Walthers, Jason Goldberg, and I, have really enjoyed watching our outreach grow!” describes Hospitality Cares Board Member and PROOF Architectural Wares & Design Consultation Founder Heather Scott.

Launched in 2009, Hospitality Cares was founded to help hospitality professionals recover from the financial crisis of 2008. The non-profit organization extends support to hospitality professionals who have experienced financial challenges through job loss, as well as housing and medical hardships. Through job placement support and monies donated to Hospitality Cares, qualified professionals receive assistance in re-building their businesses and careers within the industry.
